About StudyIn.HK
StudyIn.HK is an independent, evidence-based knowledge base for international students applying to Hong Kong (HKSAR). We answer the questions students and parents actually ask — one question per article, one direct answer at the top — covering the eight UGC-funded universities (HKU, CUHK, HKUST, PolyU, CityU, HKBU, LingU, EdUHK), self-financing institutions, JUPAS and non-JUPAS application routes, taught and research postgraduate programmes, the student visa, the IANG post-graduation visa, on-campus and private housing, daily life logistics (Octopus, MTR, banking), and graduate employment in Hong Kong.
We are not an education agent. We do not accept commission from universities or charge for placement. Every fact in our articles is checked against official sources — the Immigration Department of HKSAR, the University Grants Committee (UGC), each university’s own admissions office, and other statutory bodies — and the source is linked from the article body or our Resources page.
Editorial position
- No paid placements. No university, agent, hostel or service provider can pay to be ranked higher, mentioned more often, or have unfavourable content removed.
- No removed criticism. We will not delete or soften factual criticism in exchange for any benefit.
- Source-first. Every claim that affects an applicant’s decision (admissions criteria, tuition, visa rules, deadlines) is paired with an official URL. If the source updates, we update.
- Updated continuously. Hong Kong policies — IANG, the Talent / TTPS schemes, application portals, tuition — change between cohorts. We re-check active articles each admissions cycle.
Why we exist
Most overseas-facing material about Hong Kong study is either thin (university brochure copy) or commercially conflicted (agent-funded SEO sites). Decisions about a four-year degree or a HK$300,000+ master’s deserve clean, citable information. That is the gap we are trying to fill.
